Kansas wide receiver Chase Harrell was present when his older brother, Cole, was shot and killed at a Houston house party early Sunday morning, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Cole’s older brother, Corbin, told the Chronicle about eight people were at the gathering, which included Chase. Corbin said an angry man arrived at the party and instigated a fight, and Cole died when trying to grab that man’s weapon.
Corbin, who stayed home and didn’t attend, said he learned of the shooting when Chase called him.
“He was hysterical,” Corbin told The Chronicle.

Police said no one else was hurt, while one man turned himself into authorities and appeared before a judge Monday, according to KPRC-TV in Houston. The Harrell family has already set up a GoFundMe page for Cole and his 5-year-old son, Carter.
Chase, from Huffman, Texas, had 25 catches for 221 yards with three touchdowns as a sophomore for KU last season.
