Wichita can look forward to a warm holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine, forecasters say.

Thanksgiving will see highs in the upper 60s in the Wichita area — more than 20 degrees warmer than Wednesday’s chilly conditions. Winds will be light and variable under sunny skies.

Lows early Friday morning will be in the mid-40s, with clear skies and light south winds teasing Black Friday shoppers lined up for doors to open.

Record books will be rewritten later in the day on Friday, forecasters say, with highs in the 70s expected to topple Wichita’s record for Nov. 24.

A cold front will arrive early Saturday, but highs will still reach the 60s Saturday and Sunday. Sunshine will continue, with winds not showing much strength until Sunday.

The forecast indicates weather conditions in the nation’s mid-section should not hinder holiday travel.
