After one of the coldest Halloweens on record in Wichita, residents of the area can expect a warm-up the rest of the week.

Tuesday’s high of 42 ranks fifth on the list of coldest Halloweens in the city’s history, according to the National Weather Service. It tied 1912 for the fifth-lowest high on Oct. 31.

Other areas of the state were even colder, with snow falling across much of northwest and even parts of central Kansas.

But western Kansas could see 70s Wednesday and Wichita will rebound into the 60s, forecasters say. Winds will be light out of the south on a mostly cloudy day.

Thursday will be mostly sunny and even warmer, forecasters say, with highs near 70 in the Wichita area. But another cold front rolls through on Friday, dropping temperatures into the mid-50s and bringing a chance of showers.
