Bassett Home Furnishings is opening Monday in a new retail center at the Waterfront at 13th and Webb Road.

“We’re just really excited to be in the Wichita community,” says store manager Charlotte Neff.

Bassett is taking 10,000 square feet of a new 17,000-square-foot retail center just east of Bonefish Grill.

The Virginia-based chain has about 90 stores nationally, most of which are owned by the company, as this one will be.

“We specialize in custom furniture,” Neff says.

There are material samples throughout the store.

Neff says the turnaround time for custom pieces is about 30 days.

“We own our own factories. We own our own logistics company.”

Bassett also offers free in-home consultations.

In addition to custom and other furniture, the store will carry lighting, rugs, accessories and window treatments.

The grand opening won’t happen until early February. That’s because the company plans to have its largest-ever product launch in January.

“Our floor will be changing over the next couple of months,” Neff says.

Bassett will be open seven days a week, including from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The store also will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Black Friday.

Don Piros of Landmark Commercial Real Estate handled the Bassett deal and will handle leasing for the remainder of the new center. Ink Construction was the contractor for the new center and Bassett.

“It’s a nicely done store,” the Waterfront’s Stephen Clark II says.

“We’re glad to have them, and I think they’ll do well here.”
