The Hearing Group is continuing its rapid expansion, this time with a new office in Derby.
This makes No. 7 since Jesse and Amy Hidalgo started the business in 2014.
“Can you believe that?” Jesse Hidalgo says.
He jokes about why the company is growing so quickly.

“Because I’m crazy, that’s why.”
The Derby office is opening Nov. 27 at 1726 E. Walnut Grove Road, which is just down from Rock Road and Madison Avenue.
“I think our concept has just really taken hold with the whole HG test drive,” Hidalgo says.
That’s the Hearing Group’s offer of a free hearing test and equipment to try out for a week.
“We fit you with a set of hearing instruments right there on the spot,” Hidalgo says. “It’s just a good old-fashioned handshake, get on down the road and try it.”
Customers don’t have to put down any money.
“In fact, we tell them at the booking appointment, leave your checkbook at home,” Hidalgo says. “I gotta tell you … people are loving it.”
He says the most frequent comment he hears is that people “really worried when they came in because they didn’t know what to expect.”
“When they come back, they automatically know, wow, this made a big difference,” he says. “The trust factor just goes through the roof.”
The Derby office is the first Hearing Group designed with interactive technology from the start.
There will be a grand opening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 27 with snacks and giveaways.
The Hearing Group has grown through partnerships and an acquisition in Kansas and Oklahoma. There are two Wichita offices.
Hidalgo says he and his wife next are targeting El Dorado, Newton and Hutchinson for new offices. Look for more information when the deals happen.
