If you liked hanging out at Joe’s Oldtown Bar & Grill, the nightlife spot that’s operated at 222 N. Washington since 2012, you'll need to find a new place.
The bar closed for good on Thursday, said Charlie Badeen, who co-owns the bar with David Allan.
Another similar venue will be moving in, though, said Badeen, who indicated he was signing papers on the deal this afternoon. The new business could be in during the next two to three weeks.
“We had an offer to sell it,” he said.

Badeen, who also has Dudley's at 8550 W. 21st and O’Brien’s Irish Pub at 5205 E. Kellogg, said that Joe’s had a good run in Old Town, staying open almost six years.
“Old Town has been good to us,” Badeen said. “We have nothing bad to say about Old Town. It’s just that there’s so many places down here.”
He also wasn’t a big fan of the new cameras in Old Town, which police are now using to issue traffic tickets. Badeen said he thinks that is keeping people away.
“They say they’re supposed to use them to watch crime, but now they’re giving tickets,” he said.
Dudley’s and O’Brien’s both have a strong base of regular customers, Badeen said, and they’ll be fine.
Stay tuned for news on what business is moving into the Joe’s space.
